The weight gain is gradual as required by the body to support the growing child.
Now what should be the ‘Ideal’ weight?

Most women often ask this question.  As there is no uniformity of body structures there cannot be an ‘Ideal’ weight. As there is no such thing as ‘Ideal’ weight for a woman, there is no ‘Ideal’ weight during pregnancy.  Weight gain during pregnancy is dependent the body structure as well as a lot many other factors like eating habits, exercise regime etc.

For underweight ladies the weight gain would be anything between 30-40 pounds as their body requires to gain more weight.

For over weight ladies the normal weight gain allowed is between 15-25 pounds.
